The National Teachers’ Institute, (NTI) Kaduna, has commenced the training of its staff on e-facilitation in preparation for the take-off of the newly introduced advanced diploma in Environmental Education. During the opening ceremony of the workshop on Monday, September 17, Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare, the director-general and chief executive of the institute, who was represented by the director examinations of the institute, Bashir Mamman, disclosed that the institute has come a long way as a distance learning outfit in Nigeria.
Mamman, who delivered an address on behalf of the director-general, said NTI has contributed immensely to the production of quality teachers for the nation’s education system.
He said that the present management under the stewardship of Professor Azare would do everything possible to support the staff of the institute as they drive the online delivery initiative.
According to him, the e-facilitation of the institute is to make sure that the Environmental Education programme is extended to cover other programmes. He thanked the partners of the institute, the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) for their support and encouragement.
While appreciating the contribution of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), the acting director, Academic Services of the institute, Mr Ndem Y. Ndem, emphasised the need of sharing ideas among participants during the workshop, so as to actualise the objectives of the workshop.
The workshop, which took place at the institute’s headquarters in Kaduna from September 17, to 21, had the institute’s zonal and state coordinators, education officers and other field officers in attendance.
