A group under the aegis of Waziri Frontiers Network (WFN) has called on the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic party (PDP) to consider giving the party’s presidential ticket to former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, saying he has what it takes to guarantee victory for the party come 2019.
The director general of the group, Engr. Dan Ohiomoba in a statement issued and made available to newsmen in Kaduna after a zonal meeting of the group’s exco in Abuja called on the entire leadership of PDP and delegates of the party to support Atiku in the forthcoming primaries to avoid defeat in 2019 general elections.
According to the group as contained in the statement, “Atiku is the only sellable candidate among the PDP presidential aspirants. Only Atiku can give the ruling APC government a tough fight despite the national apparatus the ruling party is relying on to ring the election. Atiku has stand tall despite the intimidation by the APC government.”
The group’s leader said Nigeria needs a leader like Atiku due to the fact that he is the most prepared and also a true nationalist.
He said, “He has what it takes to improve our economic situation, he respects intellectual capacity and invest a lot in Research, Development and Innovation.
“The founding fathers and stakeholders of PDP should endorse and support Atiku now in the interest of national unity to protect our unity in diversity.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo as an elder statesman is expected to give his support to a vice that made sure that great and wonderful things happened during his tenure.
“A man who made sure Nigerian economy was sustained, that foreign direct investments succeeded while ensuring national unity in peace with social acceptance, social investment, security and religious tolerance and stability.”
He therefore called on the delegates and party leadership to consider Atiku as their best option to defeat the APC in 2019.
