Lil Wayne Teams With 14 Designers for ‘Tha Carter V’ Merchandise Collection



Lil Wayne’s mythical, ‘Tha Carter V album, has finally been released. To celebrate the freeing of C5, Weezy has collaborated with 14 talented designers for a limited-edition merchandise collection that was released over the course of nine days, starting September 26.

The exclusive collection is fully curated by Bravado, which has worked alongside Kanye West, Travis Scott and Justin Bieber in the past.

Each drop contains Wayne merchandise that will only be available for 24 hours, much like the approach Scott took with his Astroworld collection.

The first pieces were released at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday over at Tha Carter V’s official online shop. Weezy taps innovative designer Heron Preston for the collection’s debut collaboration. Highsnobiety got a sneak peek at Preston’s airbrushed white T-shirt, featuring a graphic of a youthful Lil Wayne inhaling a joint. The backside includes famous bars from 2008’s “A Milli,” emblasoned with “What’s a goon to a goblin” in a bold green font.

“I wanted to do an airbrush theme that was very unique to the South where he’s from,” Heron told Highsnobiety. “I looked for amateur airbrush artists, and I found a bunch of them on Etsy. I didn’t want something that was super polished or professional; I wanted to capture that amateur skill level — which is the same kind of skill level that I saw when looking at old airbrush artwork back in the ‘90s.”
