‘House On The Rock’ Honours Nigeria’s Fallen Heroes



The House On The Rock Church in Abuja, has honoured fallen heroes who sacrifice their lives to ensure the sovereignty of our nation.

The event, which held on Sunday in Abuja was to mark Nigeria’s 58th Independence Day celebration.

Among those honoured included the deceased armed forces who died in the course of defending the country and the families they left behind.

The Pastor of the Church, Uche Aigbe told LEADERSHIP during the Refuge Heroes Awards that among those honoured were the seven policemen who were killed by unknown attackers while on duty at Galadimawa roundabout in June, 2018.

According to him, “We did seven for the police, two for the Navy and two for the Army. In all, it is between 30-50. For each of them, they got some kind of cash assistance as well which was a contribution from the church.”

In his response, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin commended the Church for identifying with the military and honouring them.

Represented by Major General Habilla Vintanaba, Olonisakin charged other Churches to emulate the act do that peace will be enforced. “This initiative will galvanize and encourage members of Nigerian military to work relentlessly.”
