2019: Minister Calls For Unity, Collaboration Among Aspirants



Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has called on aspirants, under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT to be focused and united to enable the party win all the 10 elective positions in the territory.

Speaking during a meeting with stakeholders, state executive committee members and aspirants of the party in Abuja yesterday, Bello also called for peaceful, free, transparent, credible and acceptable primaries.

“So, whatever we do, the ultimate is for us, in the coming 2019 elections is to win all the 10 elective positions in the FCT, which are the six areas councils chairmen, two House of Representatives seats, one senator and above all the presidency.”

He noted that re-electing the APC at the federal and national assembly levels is what would benefit members of the party to move the nation towards the direction and believe of the party.

The minister stated that to achieve success for the party in 2019, members must be united, work extremely hard and above all play the game freely, fairly, transparently and above all credibly, which is the stand of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bello also appealed to the party executives and members of the party to conduct the primary election freely, credibly and with the fear of God, adding that whoever Almighty selects,  either as a chairman or as a House of Representatives member or as a senator would be supported by members.

The minister commended the good relationship existing between the aspirants, just as he called on them to sustain such relationship to enable the party win the territory in the 2019 elections.

Earlier, the chairman of APC in the territory, Alhaji Usman Abdulmalik, had noted that the party has become attractive new members, adding that it has become a party that everybody wants to identify with.

Abdulmalik maintained that it is only in the FCT that you see good understanding existing between aspirants, adding that such relationship is lacking in most states of the federation.

He also disclosed that the party has been working hard to ensure that the primary election in the FCT is peaceful, free, credible and transparent.

He continued: Honourable minister, today APC is the party everybody wants to identify with in the FCT. I can tell you that in the senate alone, we have nine aspirants contesting for the only seat in the FCT and in the House of Representatives, we also have 13 aspirants contesting the two positions in the territory. In the area councils, we have not less than 13 people wanting to be the chairmen of the six area councils of the FCT.”
