The death toll has risen to at least 1,234 after two earthquakes and a subsequent tsunami that hit Indonesia’s Sulawesi island last week, an official said Tuesday.

At least 799 were injured and 99 others were listed as missing, National Disaster Management Agency spokesman Sutopo Nugroho said.

More than 61,000 are displaced, he said.
