The Adamawa Police Command said the ban on political campaign is still in force, as it directed the withdrawal of escorts attached to politicians in the state. Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Ibrahim, said the withdrawal is to have enough manpower to protect lives and property in the state. A statement by the command, urged politicians to adhere strictly to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s rules on when to start campaigns, by various political parties in the state. “Now that the primary elections is over, the ban on campaigns is still enforce.
“Political parties should adhere strictly to INEC rules, even as the primary elections is over. “Aggrieved politicians should seek redress through normal process, to avoid breach of peace, as political thugs/thuggery would not be condoned. “Political leaders are hereby warned to admonish their followers to be law abiding and remain peaceful. “The command once again appreciate the general public, eminent persons, traditional rulers and religious leaders for their cooperation,” he said.
