A Non Governmental Organisation, Seeing is Believing (SiB), has urged the government and wealthy Nigerians to support the physically challenged persons in the society.
The programme cordinator, Dr Juliana Nathaniel, made this appeal during a football match organised for the students of Jabi School for the Blind, Abuja.
Dr Nathaniel said the organisation had since its inception in Nigeria in 2007, executed various projects aimed at uplifting the standard of living of the blind.
She noted that SiB, is a three-year (2017-2020) Comprehensive Child Eye Health in Nigeria (CCEHiN) programme, that seeks to make comprehensive child eye health services available and accessible through promotion, prevention, medical care and rehabilitation/inclusive education targeted at vulnerable children.
She said the organisation planned to provide training in daily living skills as an important aspects of its programme, especially for the school teachers to contribute to nation building.
She, therefore, urged the government, and other relevant bodies to support the school children to make them contribute to the growth of the nation in future.
In her remarks, the principal of the school, Mrs Regina Dung, commended the organisation for its contribution towards the growth of the school.
She thanked the organisation for its show of love to the students by organising football match.
“The SiB, has been of great help to the school especially in the aspect of donating educational materials to the students we always find difficult to buy due to its high cost,” she said.
