The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Delta State has affirmed O’diakpo Obire as its governorship flag bearer for the 2019 governorship election.
The affirmation of the governorship candidate, Dr. Obire, as the flag bearer of the party by the delegates from the 25 local government areas of the state, was a true manifestation of his readiness to bring governance to the people at the grass-root if voted into power.
The primary election which held at Eliko Hotel, Warri, was supervised by the party’s national delegates and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The National Organizing Secretary of the party, Abiodun Noah who conducted the exercise said Obire who was the sole aspirant in the race got 830 votes in the election.
He said, a total number of 837 delegates were accredited, total valid votes cast were 830 with 5 void votes. “I hereby declare Dr. Obire as the winner of today’s gubernatorial primary election. Congratulations Dr. O’diakpo Obire,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Obire lauded the delegates and party’s executives for his endorsement as the party’s flag bearer in the 2019 Gubernatorial elections.
Obire gave a hint of his manifesto. Said he, “My government will transform the rural to stem the rural-urban migration. We will implement our blueprint to comprehensively create jobs and empower teeming unemployed youths. We will provide endowment fund to economically empower our hardworking but poor womenfolk.
Speaking further, Dr. Obire said, his government is begin a revolution of resilient infrastructure in Delta State, so much so that whatever is built, is constructed to last for generations. Additionally, he promised to focus on human capital development, revitalize the education and health sectors .
On peace and security, the governorship hopeful said: “If the youths are gainfully employed, crime would drastically reduced. Lives and property of will be guaranteed.”
He urged Deltans to vote for PPA to change things for the better in the State, promising that “we will run a government that works – a government that wouldn’t favor one ethnic group above the other. Hold me to these promises”, he concluded.
