Overland Airways Aircraft Catches Fire Inside Hanger At MMA



An Aircraft belonging to Overland Airways, parked at the Overland hangar, few yards to the General Aviation Terminal ( GAT) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport caught fire this morning, destroying the multi-million Naira equipment.

There was no casualty and no passengers were on board as at the time of the incident.

LEADERSHIP gathered that as at the time of the incident the aircraft was parked and being powered by the Ground Power Unit (GPU), as at the time it caught fire.

It was not clear however, what caused the fire outbreak as at the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, General Manager, Corporate Affairs of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Henrietta Yakubu said an Overland aircraft actually caught fire at the hanger.

Mrs Yakubu said “the fire has been contained. No casualties. Thank you for your concern. It happened at the Overland Hanger.
