My 24 Years Childlessness Inspired My New Song – Aity Dennis

Nigeria’s Lady of Gospel songs and quintessential artiste, Aity Dennis, has stormed the music scene again, with an inspiring new song and video entitled ‘Call My Number.’ According to the Akwa Ibom State Culture and Tourism Ambassador, her thrilling story of 24 years of barrenness inspired the new song and video. The quality video released on her private label, TDK Music, has been described as colourful, classy and captivating. The new video captures the lively, vivacious- spirit of the ever-smiling and joyful artiste, testifying to God’s faithfulness to all and sundry. It was beautifully dramatised and fun-filled with lots of dancing. ‘Call My Number’ is a viewer’s delight. The video was directed by one of Nigeria’s most creative filmmakers, Oluyinka Davids of Ifocus Pictures while Wole Oni Produced it.

Dennis, apart from being an erudite and celebrated multiple award winning musician, dancer, author and television producer, is a great woman of amazing courage, bravery and incomparable grace and guts. She fought a very dreaded as well as horrific battle of her life for 24 years to childlessness to stay alive against all odds and especially the darkness of some of anti-feminine African traditional norms and cultural heritage. This has mournfully taken many women to their early graves in Nigeria and Africa due to the unwelcomed state of female infertility which most times is not the making of these innocent women.
While speaking with select journalists, the singer noted that she passed through ‘the valley and shadow of death’ but miraculously survived, in her hopeless search for a child. She added that she tried everything possible namely IVF tests, orthodox and unorthodox medicine and even went for traditional medicine in her then desperate hunger for a baby. Unfortunately, all failed her. She further explained that she was times without number grossly stigmatised, victimised, humiliated, disgraced and maltreated by her so called friends, family members, friends and in-laws. But her unshakable faith in God kept her going and today, she is a living testimony of courage and her uncanny faith in God.

Incredibly, Aity gave birth to a set of twins (a boy and a girl) at the age of 50 after 24 years of childlessness. “My life has become a living testimony, so the least I can do is to encourage people going through stuff in this life to hold on to God even when they are in dire straits. If God could end my 24 years wait for a baby and turns me from ‘Mama Nothing’ to ‘Mama Three’, then impossible is possible if you doubt it, call my number!, she declared.” Aity was appointed and invited by former President Goodluck Jonathan as the only guest performing artiste for the launching of this official biography, ‘Wind of Hope,’ at Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, FCT. She is a widely travelled songstress who has performed in many African countries and top ranking shows in Europe and America. A multi-lingua singer and songwriter who has written over 5,000 songs and still writing more songs.
