‘Court Order On Kaduna Central Vacated Before APC Primary’

The winner of the All Progressives Congress Kaduna Central senatorial ticket, Mallam Uba Sani, has said the court order he had obtained was vacated before the rescheduled party’s primaries.

Sani, who is the political adviser to Governor Nasir el-Rufai, through his lawyer, Sule Shaibu, also refuted media reports that the case he filed in court restraining the APC from conducting primary elections subsists.

Uba Sani’s counsel, who expressed shock over the reports that the order subsists at the time the primary was conducted explained that:” while it is true Sani filed an action before a Kaduna state High Court and obtained a restraining order against the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, it is also true that the court duly vacated the order and paved the way for the conduct of the party primaries.”

“It is saddening that those who are expected to know are saying things that are contrary to the reality on ground.

“We secured an interim injunction restraining not only the party from conducting any form of primary election as it were, but also INEC from observing any process or accepting any, where Uba Sani’s name is excluded from the process of election.

“On Thursday October 2, it became clear that the national body of APC had resolved that all those who actually purchased nomination forms should be cleared, and were so cleared to contest the election.

“And the electoral body sent by the party actually came down on that date with the verified list of those qualified to contest duly signed by the national chairman of the party.

“Upon proper consideration and further instruction, we proceeded the following day, and filed a Notice of Discontinuance of the matter,” he narrated.
