Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has emphasised peace as core value in Islam as Umar Abdullahi Sha’ayau of Jigawa State emerged overall winner of the 22nd edition of Annual Qur’an Recitation in Minna
The week long exercise was organised by Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Waiqamatus Sunnah JIBWIS with its headquarters in Jos and attracted 123 participants from nineteen states of the federation as well as the Republic of Benin and Niger.
The governor who lauded the association for sustaining the annual spiritual exercise, it has served as morale booster of encouraging young Muslims to memorise and recite the Holy Qur’an and embrace Islam as a religion of peace.
He also expressed satisfaction with the way and manner the Association undertake its activities by encouraging people to do good and desist from doing any act that is against the teaching of the religion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman, Council Of Ulama’a of the Association, Malam Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir noted that the main objectives of the competition is to encourage constant recitation of the Holy Qur’an among Muslims in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
Malam Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir expressed worry over the attitudes of some parents who are not training their children in accordance with the teachings of Qur’an and Hadith as enjoined in Islam as a religion.
