A social political group under the auspices of justice and equity movement has condemned in totality the recent act of injustice going on in Benue south APC.The group during a protest in Abuja, appealed to the national secretariat of the party(NWC), Adams Oshiomole to prevail on the minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh to stop the plan of substituting names of duly elected candidates from Benue south senatorial district in Abuja.
Recalls that the Benue APC, both in Ogbadibo local government has concluded its primaries, the process of selecting candidates for various political positions come 2019. The Ogbadibo state house of assembly election which was keenly contested amongst aspirants has Comrade Austin Agada as the winner, having polled the highest number of votes cast to represent the ogbadibo state constituency in the Benue state House of Assembly 2019.
However, spokesperson of the group, Barr. Akor Ikwuoche told Journalists in Abuja, Thursday .October 18, that chief Audu Ogbeh who was away in oversea during the democratic process where a candidate emerged has upon coming back to Nigeria decided to gang up in order to replace the authentic and elected candidate(s) of the party in Benue south senatorial district ,especially that of Ogbadibo constituency. The group described as worst political scenario the actions of the purported minister of Agriculture who had never won his polling unit for the interest of the party in past elections tend to arrogate power for himself in the name of stakeholder trying to substitute names of elected candidates of the party.
“The primary elections were conducted under a free and fair atmosphere between September and October 2018, under the very watchful eyes of the electoral committee, the APC executives, the security agencies, INEC, the observer teams and all other critical stakeholders in the process and a winner(s) emerged for the various constituency seats contested ,” Barr. Ikwuoche affirmed.
“We hereby appeal to your excellency to call the honorable minister to order and ensure that all those candidates that won the primary elections under the party’s umbrella are not substituted as planned, and to be allow to represent the party as candidates for the general elections come 2019.” The group cried out.
