Daughter of former senate president, David Mark, Mrs Blessing Onuh has announced her defection from the  Peoples Democratic party over what she described as , “severe fraud and manipulations” that took place during the party’s primary elections in Benue state.

Mrs Onuh who was a former Secretary for social Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration,  FCTA had  the during the PDP primaries contested for the position of  member , House  of Representatives  for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency.

Her exit from the former ruling Party was contained in a Press statement issued yesterday by her  campaign organisation in Otukpo,  Benue state and signed by its coordinator, Dr. Vincent Odeh.

According to the statement, the former FCTA scribe, “can no longer continue to stay in a party which does not believe in the principles that defines democracy and where few men easily upturn the decisions of the majority for their personal interest “.

“A situation in which a delegates’ list was used to conduct governorship primaries that produced Samuel Ortom as governorship flagbearer and same list was fraudulently changed few days later just because the delegates won’t vote for a preferred senatorial candidate is the height of political manipulation and subversion of the will of the people.”

The statement went further to explain that ,” after the delegate list was changed and all delegates who voted in the Governorship primary days ago were shut out of the venue by security men and thugs , Mrs Blessing Onuh and most candidates left the Makurdi venue,  returned to Otukpo and did not participate in the sham primary election”.

“The reason why the election could not hold in Benue South senatorial district as directed by the party’s national leadership but shifted to Makurdi was because the party faithful insisted that the genuine delegates must decide those who emerge flagbearers and not few ‘Abuja Politicians’ who over the years have sustained their grip on power in Benue south with federal might, manipulations and persistent intimidation.”

“Most of those who carried out this rape on democracy are fully aware that Mrs Blessing Onuh is a grassroots mobilizer that had over the years worked tirelessly  to ensure PDP’s victory at the grassroots in Benue South senatorial district. We challenge them to  campaign on the street of Otukpo as well as other communities to test their popularity”.

Her campaign organisation noted that despite frustrating her out of the party she had worked for immensely, some PDP chieftains in Benue south are still after her insisting that she must remain in the party whether she likes it or not. She has been receiving  series of threats from those who are threatened by her exit from the party knowing that it’s spells doom for the PDP in Benue South”.

The campaign team adviced  the,” PDP Members  hunting for Mrs Blessing Onuh to leave her alone and  redirect their energies, if any,to tackling the All Progressives Congress( APC), Social Democratic (SDP) and other political parties who have candidates contending for various legislative positions in the region.”

Although, the statement did not state what political party she intends to pitch tent with,  it noted that, “ She is still consulting with key political actors, Royal fathers,   youth groups,  women forums, elders and other stakeholders form Benue South senatorial district before she will disclosing her next line of action.”
