The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will today commence its 2018 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Orientation Course across the country.
This is coming five days after the passing out ceremonies of the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1.
Our correspondent learnt that many of the prospective corps members who had before now travel from different states across the federation to their respective states of deployment will embark on the compulsory one year service which will begin with a three weeks mobilization in camps before commencing fully their primary assignments in the respective places of deployment.
Meantime, the online registration for prospective Corps Members (PCM) continues till tomorrow, following the extension of the Batch ‘C’ Stream II.
There was however a setback for those deployed to Kaduna state as insecurity in the state would mean indefinite postponement of the orientation exercise.
In a statement released by the NYSC management on Sunday night via its official Facebook page, it read “The Management of National Youth Service Corps wishes to inform all 2018 Batch ‘C’ prospective Corps Members deployed to Kaduna State that the commencement of the Orientation Course earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 23rd October, 2018 has been suspended till further notice due to the current security situation and consequent curfew imposed by the state government. All affected prospective Corps Members are advised to remain at home until further notice from the NYSC Management. All inconveniences are regretted.”
The National Youth Service Corps is a compulsory one year program for all Monotechnics, Polytechnics and University graduates under the age of thirty.
