In its effort to improve the economic status of the people and promote commerce, the Kebbi State Government has introduced a financial support programme of ten thousand naira each to three hundred people in each of the 21 local government areas.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Abubakar Muazu Dakingari and made available to LEADERSHIP says, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu announced this through his Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed Argungu at the Government House during a meeting with Local Government Chairmen.
He explained that the empowerment scheme has been designed to assist petty traders throughout the state to boost their economic ventures. Consequently, local government chairmen have been directed to submit names of potential beneficiaries in their respective localities.
Persons to be given consideration include food vendors, fruit, sugar cane and milk sellers, shoe shiners and similar ventures.
The Chief of Staff explained that the programme was in fulfilment of pledges made by the incumbent Governor to empower people of the state irrespective of their political differences.
He advised beneficiaries to utilize the money for the target objectives adding that, the number of people per local government would be increased to five hundred thousand subsequently.
