SME Portal Will Provide Unified Single Window Trade – Akpan

The federal government has commenced the Implementation of  a public- private- partnership project on technology – enabled SME solution.

Towards this end, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, under the leadership of the minister,Dr.Okechukwu,

disclosed that the project was in collaboration with its agencies, while also reiterating its determination to continue to seek ways to make the Nigerian business climate conducive for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of FMITI PPP Project Delivery Team, the permanent secretary, Mr Edet Sunday Akpan, observed that many SMEs go through a lot to avail themselves of government services that are relevant to their businesses simply because these services might either be manual and where they are online, they are not in one place where they can uptake with resultant loss of revenue for government.

Akpan explained that the PPP Project titled: “ SME Portal,” in collaboration with agencies and Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), is to provide a unified single window trade gateway whereby federal government’s policies on trade and investment, Ease of Doing Business and SME-focused services can be implemented, and promoted to help Nigerian businesses learn, grow and scale.

According to him, the PPP SME Portal would be a single window platform that would provide convenience and wider access to all services rendered by the ministry and its agencies to SMEs.

He added that the portal is one platform to many that would increase individual agency’s revenue, offer access to more SMEs to uptake government services and above all improve the ease of doing business for all SMEs.
