Police Nab 5 Bank Robbery Suspects

Five suspected bank robbery suspects have been arrested by the operatives of Lagos State Police Command for making unauthorized withdrawal at Stanbic Bank located in Alaba area of the state by using the Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

Our correspondent learned that the armed men were suspected to be robbers who may have stolen ATM cards from unsuspecting members of the public.

The police said the confession of the suspects led to the arrest of the following other gang members identified as Ayobami Adebayo a.k.a Label Money 21, Mufutau Ibrahim also known as Shakushaku  25, Ogundiran Adeniyi a.k.a MM Papa24, Emmanuel Chukwu a.k.a Makabelly, 25 and Dare Oyetola aka Paper, 32.

It was gathered that on October7, 2018, at about 0030 hours information was received from a credible source that some armed men were sighted making unauthorized withdrawal at Stanbic Bank, Alaba Branch, using the Automated Teller Machine (ATM), that the armed men were suspected to be robbers who may have stolen ATM cards from unsuspecting members of the public.

Based on the information, operatives from Ojo Police Station and FSARS Ikeja swiftly mobilized to the scene where they arrested two of the robbers while others escaped.

The police said they were immediately searched and in the process, one Diamond and UBA Banks ATM cards and one Nokia Phone belonging to a victim were recovered and the suspects gave their names as Olalekan Ayoola and Sodiq Olalere.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to belong to a group of armed robbers popularly called “Blue Water Boys” and that they have been terrorizing residents of Ojo, Agric, Okokomaiko, Ajangbadi, Ijanaiji, Iba and its environs.
