34-Year-Old Driver Bolts With Employer’s Truck

A 34-year-old driver, Bello Abiola, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court charged with bolting with his employer’s truck.

Standing trial over breach of peace, the accused, lives at No. 25, Iberekodo in Abeokuta, Ogun capital.

The accused allegedly diverted the truck, property of Darsef Enterprises Ltd from Apapa Warf in Lagos to Ibadan on Oct. 3
at 2.00 p.m., according to Police Prosecutor Aondohemba Koti.

Koti told the court that the accused committed the offence at No. 5, Akinyemi Cresent, Matori, Mushin in Lagos.

He said the accused was sent to pick a container from Apapa Port but decided to drive the truck to Ibadan for personal business.

“The accused was found in Ibadan three weeks after he disappeared with the truck,” the prosecutor said.

The offence contravened Section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was admitted to a bail of N50, 000 with one surety.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, who gave the ruling, said the surety must be gainfully employed with an evidence of
two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until Nov. 21 for mention.
