Police Arrest 9 IDPs For Impregnating Mentally Challenged Woman

The Adamawa State Police command has confirmed the arrest of nine (9) Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) for allegedly impregnating a psychosocial woman in Malkohi camp.

The  IDPs  mostly youths and natives of Bama town from  Borno State, allegedly lured the psychosocial woman who is also an IDP within the camp   at night and in turn had canal knowledge on her.

The police image maker, SP Othman Abubakar, confirmed the apprehension of  IDPs from the  Divisional Police  Station,Kofare  and their subsequent arraignment before a criminal court in the state capital.

The NEMA coordinator in the state, Abbani Imam, when contacted on the matter said the agency on getting the information, constituted an investigative committee to investigate the matter.

The committee comprises military and para military, after authenticating  truth in the matter, handed the suspected  IDPs to the police for interrogation.

Dr Mohammed Sulaiman, executive secretary, Adamawa State Management Agency (ADSEMA), declined to comment, saying the matter is before  the court.

Efforts to trace the relationships of the pregnant woman proved abortive.

It was learnt that, the pregnant IDP encountered mental unsuitability, as a result of trauma from Boko Haram insurgency attack, that attacked her family as she is languishing at Malkohi camp without antenatal care.
