Foundation Gives Humanitarian Support To 1000 Less Privileged

A nongovernmental organisation, When In Need (WIN) Foundation, on Wednesday, gave humanitarian support to a thousand less privileged members of Katampe 2 Community at Mpape Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The humanitarian support was in form of free medical check-up, aid and provision of varieties of foodstuff to underprivileged people in the area and some people received drugs, eye glasses, eye drops etc, all free of charge.

While speaking the president/CEO of the foundation, Dame Dr Chetachi Ecton, who is also the sole sponsor, said that the main purpose of the whole mission was to support humanity.

“The motive behind all these is to support humanity. I know what it means not to have much; I know what it means to be sick and not have enough money to go to the hospital.

“I know how it feels to be hungry and not have enough to feed myself and my children, so this is why since God has blessed me, I am trying to give back to the society.

“My advice to any interested person out there is that you don’t need to have much before sharing with others. From the little you have, you can share with those who don’t have water, food etc.”

The project coordinator (Nigeria), Chukwuma Okere, while corroborating the president’s statement, also said that the reason for the free medical check-up is because the Primary Health Care Centre doesn’t have any medical professional.

“At the primary health care centre here, there is no medical doctor, all we have here are adhoc staff.

“And that’s why we brought our own medical team from the United States to attend to them.”

WIN Foundation is registered, both in Nigeria and USA. The foundation has assisted many individuals, groups, institutions and many rural communities in Nigeria with basic amenities, food supplies, agricultural development, healthcare, clean water, rehabilitation of schools, scholarships and other youth and women empowerment programs.
