These are great moments for Seun Kuti, leader of Fela Kuti & Egypt 80 Band, the iconic music band founded by his father, late Fela Kuti.

Seun’s album, ‘Black Times,’ has been nominated for the Grammy Awards of 2019. Savouring the news from weeks ago, Seun has been elated but is also keeping his emotion under wraps. His elder brother, Femi, had also, in the past, been nominated severally for a Grammy. Grammy nominations is a big deal for African musicians.

Some of those that have celebrated Seun’s honour is Indigenous rapper, Olamide, who has done nothing but support Seun since he announced the good news of being nominated for a Grammy.

The album, which was released in March, received the nomination in the Best World Music Album category at the 61st Grammy Awards ceremony happening in February, 2019.

One of the high points of the album is featuring American-Mexican musician, Carlos Santana on the project. He also features tracks that mirror the common problems of leadership confronting many African countries.

The singer, who has since shared the information on his Instagram page, urged his followers to vote for him.
