In an effort to develop Golf in the country the newly appointed FCT Golf association chairman, Engr Oladapo Olaide Mohammed has vowed to reposition the sport in the nation’s capital.
Speaking to Leadership sports, the golfer expressed his full commitment to the sports and adding that the games will be brought to the doorstep of the Abuja resident.
“Our board will introduce the game to the working class especially civil Servants and private sector, this will geometrically increase the density and quality of the players. This will also enable social networking and the benefits associated with it” he opined
“Encourage Business leaders and industrialists to build Golf Courses by advocating for allocation of green areas from FCTA development of Golf Courses”
According to him, the association will work tirelessly to ensure Abuja becomes the Nigeria’s golf tourist centre stressing the need to reintroduce the public school to the game.
“We are also looking at making Abuja a preferred Golf tourist destination in conjunction with relevant government agencies, Abuja city will be made the preferred destination for Golfers.
“We are also working towards cutting through barriers with the sport hence we aim to Introduce Golf presence in our public schools thereby removing the myth of Golf as exclusive for the rich and encouraging youths to start Golf early.
“With the introduction of mini Golf courses in the neighbourhood and district, black spots will be converted to useful areas. The economic and social value created will be of great benefit to all. “he affirmed.
