National Coordinator of Buhari Achievement Awareness Forum, a non governmental organisation, Alhaji Bashir Bale, has said that propaganda by opposition political parties that President Muhammadu Buhari is underperforming is a lie that most be corrected.
He added that the forum was basically formed to create awareness on the achievements of the present administration especially at the grassroots where, as he said, “the people were most times kept in the dark”.
Bale stated this, yesterday, in Suleja, at the launch of the Buhari Achievement Awareness Forum, even as he added that the forum was poised to change the narrative by embarking on a sensitisation tour, especially among the grassroots.
He said it was ironic that despite the love of those at the grassroots for President Muhammadu Buhari, they do not know much about his achievements, policies and programs and could therefore, be easily deceived by the opposition to believe the contrary.
He noted that unlike those in the cities, people in the grassroots were often kept in this dark on the achievements of the Buhari-led administration.
This, he noted, was because they do not have access to newspapers, television and other platforms through which they could be kept abreast of the administration`s achievements.
“We take this as a responsibility to disseminate and sensitise the peoples, especially those at the grassroots of the achievement of President Buhari from inception.
“We will use the opportunity to debunk allegations of those who left the All Progressives Congress (APC) that they left the party because President Buhari has under-performed.
“This, is just a fabricated lie because Buhari has performed more than expectation in all sectors of the country`s economy.
“By the grace of God, we will reach out to all nooks and crannies to sensitise people and create awareness on the achievement of President Buhari.
“It is our belief that Buhari has performed more than expectation despite obvious challenges,’’ he said.
Bale said the forum has so far, identified 5,000 projects of the Buhari administration it would be showcasing to the people, using pamphlet and other instruments.
He said the pamphlet had been printed in the country`s three major languages of Igbo, Yuruba and Hausa and in pidgin English for better understanding.
He said the forum would also embark on door-to-door sensitisation for those who may not be able to read or write, adding that the tour was being funded by voluntary contributions of members of the forum.
He, however, added that the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) was not a threat to President Buhari`s reelection.
According to him, President Buhari`s works are there to speak for him and would ensure his electoral victory in 2019.
