Chanchaga local government council of Niger State has disbursed scholarships to 500 students to pursue their education in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related courses.
The chairman of the council, Hon. Yusuf Inuwa Fuka while presenting cheques to the beneficiaries in Minna at the weekend, stated that the Scholarship Scheme was aimed at supporting the education of the youths.
According to him, “No doubt education is the best legacy we can bequeath on our children and by extension, to the next generation and we strongly believe no amount of expenditure will be out of place to ensure an educationally advantage generation.”
The chairman pointed out that the total scholarship earmarked by the local government is worth about N12 million; adding that the council has settled all bills that concerns the beneficiaries fees that would enable them live a comfortable life on campuses.
Hon. Fuka explained further that, the beneficiaries comprised of 80 diploma students, 40 at Kaduna Polytechnic and 40 in Minna Innovation Institute while saying that 420 of the beneficiaries are at school certificate level seeking admission.
“Since the inception of our administration, we have made efforts and recorded significant progress in the areas of education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, infrastructural development,” he disclosed
While calling on the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunities accorded them, he stated that the council will continue to support the students and embark on projects that will enhance the standard of living of the people.
