Total Donates Educational Materials To Borno School



Total Nigeria, one of Nigeria’s leading oil firms has donated, five Stand-alone Computer Systems and 4000 textbooks to Government Girls College  Maiduguri,  Borno State.

The oil firm said the aim is to boost the reading culture of the students.

Deputy General Manager, Total Nigeria, Mrs Sonye Allanah said the gesture was necessitated by the need to boost the quality of education in the country to safeguard the future of the country, noting that education is the bedrock of any development. Allanah added that for a country to grow, there is need to invest in the educational sector.

“Total prioritises more in science education because we stand to benefits from what we do because when we produce very good graduates, we will have very good employees and so it’s a value chain and we believed that our host community and contractors also benefit thereby ultimately building a future generation,” she stated.

Mrs Allanah disclosed that as part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities, Total has given out over 40,000 community scholarship,  11,000 national merits scholarship, and about 64 fellow who are benefiting. And other community development projects and empowerment

The manager, CSR Education of Total Nigeria, Mr. Azu Azuik said the need to invest in quality education cannot be over stated because the quality of the graduate influence the quality of our employees and its productivity in building a better society.

In appreciation of the gesture, Principal of Government Girl’s College, Haijia Yaganah Muhammed commended the gestures granted by Total Nigeria to her students in accessing quality education. “It is indeed an intervention to promote girl child education, this will go a long way in boosting the morale of the students and also serve as a motivation to the school administration,” she enthused.
