Former speaker of the House of Representatives and governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Dimeji Bankole yesterday pledged that his administration would prioritise massive youth’ employment if elected as governor of Ogun state State in 2019.
Bankole made the pledge while addressing monarchs and indigenes of Imeko-Afon local government area of Ogun West Senatorial District during his consultation tour of the area on Tuesday.
Emphasising that the youths need economic empowerment to make them relevant, Bankole said that his administration will provide gainful jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
He ,however, lamented the poor conditions of rural roads across the state, particularly that which connect the popular Celestial City of Imeko to the state capital, promising that Ogun under him would fix them.
“I will not stop saying it, mass employment is our watchword, we cannot open our eyes and watch the youths being jobless, I cannot promise what I cannot do, I want to assure the people of Ogun State that if elected as the next governor of the state, I will make sure I provide jobs for the youth, because our youths need job to live on”.
“Our youths need job opportunities, the wellbeing of the people should be taken with every seriousness. We cannot continue to build bridges, award contracts without considering the populace.
In his remarks, Oba Oyeditan urged the governorship candidate not to forget Imeko- Afon if elected the next governor of the state.
“We are suffering here, our youths are lacking jobs, we have bad roads, no tertiary institutions and unstable electricity.”
