As part of federal government’s effort to create jobs and eradicate poverty among rural women, over 410 women were trained on various skills and given empowerment packages for takeoff of their new business.
The women received the empowerment under two different programmes; Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and Aisha Buhari’s Future Assure Foundation Project.
Speaking at the graduation ceremonies of 30 women trained on sewing held in Dutse, the state capital, the director general, Industrial Training Fund, Sir Joseph N. Ari said, the programme is part of an accelerated effort to equip as many Nigerians as possible with skills for job creation and poverty eradication.
He said that all the women that undertook the training in the state were given sewing machine by ITF and N10,000 as takeoff capital by Jigawa State government.
Similarly the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, distributed wheelchairs, sewing machines, delivery kids and other empowerment packages to over 380 vulnerable women.
Mrs Buhari who was represented by the wife of Jigawa State governor, Hajiya Magajiya Mohammad Badaru said that the women were selected from 30 constituencies of the state.
