The Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) will host the 37th edition of the annual public service games, tagged ‘Conference City 2018’ in Lokoja, Kogi State capital. Comrade Sumaila Ibrahim, spokesperson and member of the national executive committee of FEPSGA, disclosed this to LEADERSHIP Sports, yesterday.
He said the games which would commence December 1, 2018 at the 25 thousand capacity stadium in Lokoja, will feature no fewer than 7,000 athletes and officials from Federal Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He said the games was introduced in 1980 to develop the physical and mental abilities of civil servants to enable them provide effective and efficient services to the country.
According to him, Kogi State was deliberately chosen to host the 2018 FEPSGA Games ahead of other states due to the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state.
“We are going to kogi State there is peace in the state and the games will also help to improve the economy of the state,’’ Ibrahim stated.
The games will be formally declared open by Governor Yahaya Bello, while the games organisers have promised exciting games with the full backing of the state government. Athletes are expected to compete in 14 scoring events.
