Chairman of Minna Depot, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Adamu Ahmed Erena, has stated that no fewer than N40 million is lost on daily basis due to accidents and security situations . He told journalists yesterday at Pogo Depot near Minna that between 10 – 20 trucks have been either snatched on the road or involved in road accidents which he stated has poise a challenge to regular supply of the products in the state
Erena, accompanied by his executives stated that the situation was capable of causing scarcity of the product now that the state government has restricted their movement for between 10pm to 6 am every day to allow for the repairs of the roads.
According to him, the predicament is faced by his members in all the three major routes through the state and appealed to the federal government and President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly come to their rescue by intensifying security apparatus along Birinin Gwari, Tegina, Kagara and Mokwa roads .
He reiterated that several of their members were attacked, kidnapped and trucks snatched by criminals operating on that route on daily basis
The chairman however commended the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on the ongoing road projects, but called for the release of funds for the contractor handling Lambata, Lapai to Bida roads so as to commence the construction as being done on Suleja- Minna road.
He further said that Kaduna, Sarkin Pawa to Minna roads has for long been a dead trap hence the urgent need for its reconstruction attributing the pressure on other roads to the bad state of the road.
