In line with President Muhammadu Buhari vision to create jobs and empower Nigerian youths, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) yesterday disclosed that over 185,000 persons are to undertake basic refresher course to qualify for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Agric-business Enterprise Investment Scheme loans.
Besides, about 38, 850 youths under the Vocational Skill Development (VSD) are to be trained in quick-win demand driven skill sets, cosmetology, School on Wheels and Advance National Open Apprenticeship Scheme nationwide.
Making this disclosure in Benin City, the Edo State capital, the directorat’s director general, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan, at the orientation exercise of newly recruited trainees represented by Edo coordinator of NDE, Ayo Edegbai, noted that the directorate have concluded plans to immediately empower over 11,000 with N10, 000 under the micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES).
“In using skill acquisition as tool for employability and poverty reduction not only wealth would be created but a sure path to sustainable national growth and development.
“Therefore, the use of skill acquisition to build employability is crucial for attainment of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).”
