A/Ibom: Over 4 Foreign Countries To Attend Annang Cultural Fiesta

A nongovernmental organisation (NGO) Nka Nto Annang Foundation (NNAF) says over four foreign troupes from Ecuador, Babados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Brazil are among nations expected to participate at this year’s Annag cultural festival in Akwa Ibom State.

The epic event known as Annang Festival of Arts and Culture (AFAC) 2018 with the theme: Annang Cultures beyond National Frontier is to be held at Ikot Ekpene stadium on December 21-23rd 2018.

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Uyo, president of the group, Mr Abom Ephraim Okon stated that countries from South America and the Caribbean’s will also feature at the event.

The president said the reason why his Foundation had gone into the project was to promote rich cultural heritage of his people; explore and sell it to the world so as to make Annang land a tourism destination.

Okon who is seeking assistance from the state government, corporate organisations and other wealthy individuals in the state explained that the fiesta is organised basically to bring his people together and showcase their rich cultures and values

He said that other events that will take place during the fiesta include beauty pageant competition, essay writing by secondary schools, local food cuisine arts and craft exhibition.

“So that is why we are inviting all Nigerians to the fiesta which will take place at the Ikot Ekpene, Raffia City of just an hour drive from the Ibom International Airport and twenty five minutes from the state capital, Uyo to explore all the options and attractions aside the colorful assemblage of the cultural festival. Support us as we drive this year’s festival,” Okon stated.

Earlier in a welcome address the secretary general of the Foundation, Utibe Udo Utibe said the fiesta promise to be one of the best in the country as it will show case over five thousand drummers and dancing troupes from different states of the federation adding that it will go a long way towards promotion of domestic tourism of Akwa Ibom people.
