Lottery Trust Fund Restates Commitment To Sports Development

The executive secretary, National Lottery Trust Fund, Bello Maigari has reiterated that the agency will invest in sports development in the country with revenues generated from sports betting.

Maigari made the assertion while receiving young gymnasts from the Tony International Gymnastics (TIG) team in his office in Abuja.

“Anywhere you go in Nigeria, you see betting shops springing in different corners and they mostly bet on football. Sports has been given a prominent position in the ranking of interventions in the agency because the proceeds we are generating comes from entertainment,” he said

“We will channel the proceeds for the promotion of good causes which is meant to impact the wellbeing of Nigerians.”

Expressing gratitude to the team over their achievements in the last few months, Maigari added that the agency will continue to support their quest of winning medals for the nation in future competitions.

“Gymnastics is today ranked high in the Olympics Sports and I am happy to share with you the wonderful achievements. We will encourage and support you to ensure you excel to bring home medals and laurels.”

“To these kids, growing up in sports will make them excellent athletes. They will be famous and the sky will be their limit. The Fund has always been at the forefront supporting the development of youths in Nigeria,” he stated.

Coach Tony Asuquo- led TIG team won a total number of 22 medals; 10 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze respectively surpassing their last outing at the annual Africa Gymnastic Inter-club Championship in Pretoria, South Africa.
