NYSC Is A Hot Cake Many Falsify Dates Of Births For Mobilization –Mohammed
The State Coordinator, NYSC Adamawa Abubakar Mohammed, says the scheme has become a hot cake, where people struggle to falsify their dates of birth, in order to suit the age bracket for mobilization.
The numerous contribution to national unity, integration and development, he said, have become a darling to parents, because it gives their children platform for job creation.
He disclosed this Monday, in Yola, while declaring open orientation course for 1700 Batch ‘C’ Corp members deployed for national service to the state.
Students at the inception of the scheme, staged demonstration across the country, resisting participation, thinking it was a ploy by the federal government, to delay them employment after graduation.
“It took persuasion, cajoling and in some cases force, before they went off streets and resorted to fate by accepting to be mobilized.
“As events unfolded over the years, parent s saw the wisdom behinds the establishment of the scheme, having benefited immensely from it.
“NYSC, has not endeared to Nigerians, but has become a household name, owing to its numerous contributions”. he added.
Earlier, Gov. Muhammad Jibrilla, urged the corp members, to cast away reservation abut the state, as security is living no stone unturned, to ensure the security and safety of all inhabitants.
Represented by Dr Edgar Amos, Head of Service, said government is making plans to upgrade facilities in the Damare permanent orientation camp, to guarantee comfort of corp members deployed to the state.
