An Abuja based non-governmental organization (NGO), Ane Osiobe Foundation, has donated instructional materials and books to the Special Education Resource Centre, LEA Pilot Science Primary School in Gwagwalada.

Presenting the materials at the weekend, vice president of the NGO, Asmau Idris, explained that the outreach was meant to support the less privileged children in poor communities, as well as children with special needs, to encourage them to aspire towards good education.

“Today marks the second outreach the Ane Osiobe International Foundation has hosted this year and the seventh outreach organized since it was founded in 2015, our major focus is in improving educational advancement for any child willing to go to school in any way we can that is why we strive to provide them with the opportunities that level the playing field” she said.

Idris disclosed that the foundation generates funds through contributions from family members and support from public spirited individuals.

Responding, head of resource centre, Mrs. Comfort Demide, expressed gratitude to the foundation, describing the gesture as laudable, even as she also appealed for government intervention in bringing trained teachers to effectively impact knowledge on children at the centre.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the NGO was established in honor of Mrs. Ann Eloho Osiobe’s legacy that focuses on increasing the literacy rates in Nigeria, by fueling the potentials in school children for sound education, through various programmes operational under the foundation, such as the Ane Tree, Economic Development Organization (EDO), Health and Nutrition Department (H & N), Trendsetters Series (TSS), and Ane Osiobe Altrisum Farm.
