Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has advised politicians to always ensure that service to humanity remains the corner stone of their quest for political positions, hence the need to play politics according to the rule.
Tambuwal who stressed that politics without bitterness must be entrenched at all times, added that politicians must not forget that only God gives power to whom He wishes at any given time.
The governor, who spoke while receiving the Man of the Year Award from the New Telegraph Newspapers in Lagos, said that politics must not be about selfish interest.
“Now that the season is here we should always have it at the back of our minds that we are in this business for service to the people of Nigeria and our respective constituencies, not for selfish reasons.
“Therefore, it should always matter to us that whoever comes out of his house, goes back home safely without being manhandled by political thugs.”
He further described the award as an honour and privilege and expressed appreciation that it was presented to him by a royal father, Aremo Baba Oshode and former governor of Ogun State, Otumba Gbenga Daniels, who he noted are both leaders of repute.
Tambuwal however dedicated the award to the people of Sokoto State for their overwhelming support that returned him as governor in 2015 elections and further appealed to them for further support and loyalty to his administration.
