FIF Visits Lagos Assembly Over Right To Food Bill

Members of the Farm and Infrastructural Foundation (FIF) has visited Lagos-State House of Assembly to make case for the recognition, protection and fulfilment of food as fundamental human rights of the Nigerian people.

Speaking at the rally that culminated in the Lagos Assembly, the president of FIF, Professor Gbolagade Ayoola, said the association is keen on the introduction and constitution, to amend the right to food bill at the National Assembly, saying food is a fundamental human right not just human needs.

Ayoola, said that food is greater than any other right that the nation’s constitution guarantees, but because it is convenient to those in government they refused to guarantee the right to food as one of such.

According to him,’’ This bill has passed through the first reading at the House-of-Representatives likewise the second reading, we only await the passage into law.”

adding that over two million Nigerians at home and abroad have endorsed the need to pass the bill without any delay.

He stressed the need to demand the right to food bill before the expiration of the present state assembly urging the Lagos State Assembly to as a matter of urgency pass a motion to the National Assembly to do the same since the state have a good number of representatives in the National Assembly.

Ayoola urged the well -meaning people, traditional Rulers, Opinion Leaders, Politicians, to pledge their support in getting the bill guide passed and specifically other post seekers so as to get votes from farmers during dispensation.
