Governor Muhammad Abubakar Badaru Of Jigawa State has presented the sum N157.54 billion to Jigawa State House of Assembly as the 2019 budget.
The budget which was tagged:“sustain economic growth and social transformation” is about 14 per cent above the amount appropriated for 2018 by the state government.
The appropriation bill comprises N83.57obillion for recurrent expenditure while N73.970billion goes for capital projects.
Badaru said that the sum of NN8billion was proposed for agricultural sector, N22.8 billion almost one-third of the capital expenditure was earmarked for road and transportation.
The education sector also took one-third of the total expenditure outlay with the allocation of N36.9 billion and N15.8 billion for recurrent and capital expenditure.
He said that health sector received 13% of the total budget with the sum of N10.6 billion earmarked for recurrent and N9.4 billion for capital investments.
Governor Badaru, however, presented N68.32 billion as the proposed budget for the 27 local government area in the state.
After receiving the bill, the speaker, Hon. Isa Idris Gwaram, assured the governor of the speedy passage of the budget for the benefit of the people.
