FG Urged To Adopt Arts, Crafts For Economic Growth

The federal government has been advised to exploit platforms of arts, and crafts to thrive investment in the nation.

The chief executive officer, Le Look Nigeria Limited, Chinwe Ezenwa, urged that FG should place less emphasis on certification, saying there was no need graduating unemployed youths.

Ezenwa, who is also a keynote speaker at the ongoing 11th International Arts and Crafts Expo, 2018, in Abuja, urged the need for arts and crafts to be used as a real employment generator, even as she stressed the need to train youths.

“We need to train them. If you do not train therm. do not blame them,’’ she said.

She advised FG to change school curriculum to address the rate of unemployment among Nigerian youths, insisting that the school curriculum must change in such a way that youths can renew their orientation by adopting artisanship.

“Everybody wants a degree. Degree to do what? To be employed? The youth’s mind set must change. Tell the youths that their lives depend on this. They can no longer get white collar jobs, she added.”

She identified lack of training, capacity building, funding, raw materials, and business language as some of the challenges facing investment in Nigeria. Advising the audience not to pay attention to those aforementioned challenges because there are possible ways to surmount them.
