Kimo Assumes Duty As A/Ibom New CP

The new Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Musa Kimo, has assumed duty in Uyo.

Kimo succeeds Bassey Abang, who had been redeployed from the state the command’s public relations officer, DSP Odiko Macdon, said in Uyo at the weekend.

MacDon said, “The Akwa Ibom State Police command wishes to inform the general public that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, has approved the posting of a new Commissioner of Police to Akwa Ibom State Police command.

“He is CP Musa Kimo. The new CP takes over from CP John Bassey Abang.

“The new Police boss holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of Sokoto,” Macdon said.

The official statement from the PPRO announcing the assumption of duty of Kimo has put to rest rumours that three commissioners were posted to the state within one week.

Meanwhile, the police in the state has ended their siege on the state House of Assembly following protest by irate youths over the sacking of a lawmaker, Idongesit Ituen.

Ituen, who represents the Itu state constituency, was sacked by a Federal High Court for defecting from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The speaker of the House, Onofiok Luke, had in the wake of the fracas declared the seats of four other lawmakers, who defected from the PDP to the APC, vacant.

The lawmakers are Nse Ntuen, who represented Essien Udim state constituency; Gabriel Toby, Etim Ekpo/Ika; Otobong Ndem, Mkpat Enin; and Victor Udofia, Ikono.

But the five sacked lawmakers later met to remove Luke as speaker. They elected one of them, Nse Ntuen (Essien Udim state constituency) to replace him.
