The executive secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja, has urged Nigerians to engage in productive ventures that will make the country stand among other nations of the world.
Uja made the call in Abuja recently, while addressing newsmen on the Commission’s Areopagus Pilgrimage Open House billed for tomorrow.
He noted that the programme themed: “Christian Pilgrimage, the Church and the Development of Nigeria,” is aimed at showcasing Christian Pilgrimage to Nigerians and to the world.
“In the course of seeking to develop better understanding and thereby increase ownership and participation in Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria, we came up with the Pilgrimage Open House experience,” he said.
The NCPC boss who appealed to Nigerians of voting age to go out during the 2019 general elections and exercise their civic responsibility by voting, however urged politicians and those seeking political office to approach the elections with the fear of God.
He stressed that the 2019 elections should be issues based and devoid of foul language.
“Politicians should know that no election ends and that every election is a preparation for another election, therefore, nobody should kill others in the course of the forth coming elections,” he averred.
The NCPC helmsman noted that the commission would organise pilgrimage prayers in Jerusalem and Nigeria in January, for the 2019 general elections.
Also speaking, the president, Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Olasupo Ayokunle, however called for the reduction of pilgrimage cost for Christians to participate massively, adding that the cost of pilgrimage is becoming enormous for people to bear.
