Church Warns Politicians Against Hate Speech



The congregational pastor of United Evangelical Church, National Worship Centre, Abuja, Pastor Festus Atasie, has advised politicians to be mindful of divisive speech and act detrimental to the corporate existence of the country as they go about their campaigns for the 2019 elections.

Atasie, gave the advice in Abuja while speaking with newsmen ahead of the 131st national annual conference of United Evangelical Church, Abuja.

The congregational pastor noted that politics should not be seen as a do or die affair but an avenue to serve the people.

While expressing concerns over the attitude of some politicians towards the 2019 elections, Atasie stressed the need for them to be committed to the dream of the nation’s founding fathers.

He also called on Nigerians to shun vote buying and elect credible leaders that would ensure rapid development of the country.

Atasie, admonished the youths to avoid been used by selfish politicians as thugs for 2019 poll. According to him, the forthcoming 131st National Annual Conference of United Evangelical Church, Abuja would be used to pray for leaders and peaceful as well as successful conduct of next year’s general election.

He explained that the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo would be the special guest of honour at the conference while General Yakubu Gowon is the father of the day.

Atasie stated that the conference with the theme: “Glorious Supernatural Advancement” would also be used to train leaders that would contribute to the progress of the country.
