Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has told Nigerians to be rest assured that the country’s treasury is safe under President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The vice president stated this yesterday at the launching of the 6th Mega Empowerment Programme for the youth held in Dutse capital of Jigawa State.
He said, “We would not behave like the past leaders where stealing of your money was the norm, we would save and invest your money for the future of the Nigerian youths.”
Osinbajo added that, “the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari is not interested in stealing and it would never tolerate any form of stealing public fund under whatever cover.”
According to him as part of Buhari administration’s effort and policy in promoting small and medium entrepreneurs, no fewer than 30,000 petty traders in Jigawa State have so far benefited from the federal government’s microcredit scheme, otherwise called “Tradermoni”.
Prof. Osibanjo also declared that additional 30,000 people are targeted to benefit from the programme in Jigawa State.
“In the first instance, a trader would be given N10,000 loan, after settling that it will be increased to N15,000 and up to N20,000,” the Vice President said.
Speaking when the Vice President paid a courtesy visit to his palace, the Emir of Dutse, Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi commended the present administration under Muhammadu Buhari for its people oriented policies.
“We’ve seen the difference already, particularly with regards to women empowerment and school feeding programme,” he noted.
