As the fight for the soul of the Pro-Buhari Organisation intensifies, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO) has insisted that its erstwhile national secretary, Engr Garba Umar remains suspended until further notice.
The BoT also said it has launched a public complaints committee to look into issues bordering on misappropriation and other sundry issues as may be brought by any concerned member.
This was contained in a statement and signed by the Chairman Board of Trustees, Amb. Ali Barakat, even as the statement apologized to President Muhammadu Buhari, who remains the grand patron, on any embarrassment the internal issues of the organisation may have caused him.
The statement said in part: “The BoT members severally contacted the erstwhile National Secretary who comptentiousely bluffed invitations to offer clarifications to the Board of trustee members for over three (3) months. Consequent upon recommendation of a properly constituted Investigation Committee set up by BoT and National Executive officers by a resolution on the 20th October 2018. Engr Garba Umar was SUSPENDED from his office as the National Secretary of the organization since 3rd November 2018 and remains suspended till further notice.
“Buhari Youths Organization is well poised to sanitize the organization to depict the integrity, ideology and personality of President Buhari our grand patron and to actualize the aims and objectives as originally intended. BYO will not be deterred in its resolve to rid the organization of any criminal element irrespective of position, tribe and connection.
“All criminal offences by officers of the organization that could not be resolved internally have been forwarded to relevant security and financial crimes agencies for proper investigation and action, we have been assured that investigation has commenced, justice will be done no matter whose ox is gored.
“To this end, a Public Complaints Committee has been formed by the organization to receive complaints about ANY member who may engage or had engaged in fraudulent conduct using the name and apparatus of the organization. The public is encouraged to report such cases to the number listed below for proper investigation and action as may be required. Contact number 08172075265. While apologising to President Buhari, the statement added “Our heartfelt apology also goes to our Grand Patron- President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR whose name and image the expelled criminal imposters tried in vain to bring into disrepute. This has been abated and discouraged through our internal disciplinary mechanisms. BYO is out to take its first row seat in the initiative for promoting good governance of this administration and facilitating the realization of PMB aspirations come 2019.”
