The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has declared open workshop organized for stakeholders on livestock production and development, for enhanced diary potentials in the country.
Dr M.A Olaitan, the Director, Development Fiancé Department of CBN, said the workshop is part of effort by CBN to create a viable livestock sector that would be the toast of both private domestic and foreign financiers.
Olaitan said that the workshop was to promote sustainable financing for livestock development in Nigeria.
“CBN is set to give its unflinching support to development of the ruminant livestock sub-sector by providing affordable long-term financing to producers, out-growers and processors.
“At the end of the workshop, stakeholder will borrow a leaf from this commitment and play their respective roles more vigorously to enable us achieve our common aspiration.
“Creating synergy between financial institutions and livestock value chain investors and sensitizing pastoralists and other livestock investors on available financing options, particularly anchor borrowers programme,” Olaitan said.
He lauded collaborators such as Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, National Animal Production Research Institute, and Green Fodder Technologies among others for their effort in reviving livestock production.
Hussaini Shuaibu, Yola branch Controller of CBN lauded the choice of Adamawa as one of the leading state in livestock production in the country
He also lauded the choice of participants and facilitators for the worktop and expressed hope that they would come up with effective option on financing livestock production.
