Over 51,600 Youths Get Empowerment Skills In Lagos



About 51, 600 youths have been given empowerment training in different parts of Lagos state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the youths who were picked in the five geo-political zones of the state were trained under the Sails Foundation on Hair dressing, barbing , building , electrical, plumbing , fashion designing , beauticology , shoe making , soap, balm making , among others .

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of totally free Empowerment training scheme in Shomolu area of Lagos, the founder of the Sails Foundation, Chief Owolabi Salis said the urgent need to tackle the increasing unemployment rate in the country informed the establishment of the forty training centers ,across the state.

Sails who is the governorship candidate of the Alliance For Democracy (AD) in Lagos state said it’s a social investment in which any Nigerian irrespective of their tribe, political and religious inclination can be registered and trained in the training centers.

He said,” we started it about two years ago now in Lagos, it’s a totally free Youths empowerment programme. It is all about empowering our youths. I am very happy we have been able to get quite a significant number of our youths of unemployment market. It’ saddens my heart when I see lots of Nigerians go into Crimes, prostitution and all that. But with this Initiative we are gradually solving the problem.”

Salis who said a lot of people who acquired the skills are doing very well in the country and Diaspora urged Nigerian youths to take advantage the initiative.

Also speaking the Jagamolu of Bariga, Shomolu Oba Gbolahan Timson lauded the founder Chief Salis Owolabi for establishing empowerment training centers in 44 local government areas of the state.

He remarked that such philanthropist would do very well and cater for the welfare of citizenry when voted into office as the governor of the state.
