Tor Tiv Warns Subjects Against Keeping Corpses Beyond 2 Weeks

The Tor Tiv, Prof James Ayatse, has called on his subjects not to keep dead bodies beyond two weeks to avoid the reproach of the Tiv Traditional Council.

Ayatse made the call on yesterday at Gbajimba, during the burial of Mr Kwaghngu, the late father of Governor Samuel Ortom’s principal aide, Mr Abraham Kwaghngu.

Represented by Chief Julius Aondoana, the Tor Gwer, the monarch announced that he would not attend any burial where the corpse has been kept beyond two weeks.

On his part, Governor Ortom regretted that some prominent Tiv people were trying to change the narrative of the security situation in the state by blaming killings on the state.

He warned such politicians to desist from the unpatriotic act or face the wrath of the Tiv Supreme Council.
