As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable indicates start of campaigns for governorship and state Assembly elections in 2019, Niger State government has assured of issue based campaign for the re-election of governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
The secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Ladan made this known while speaking to newsmen on preparations for the forthcoming general elections, when members of Forum of Spokespersons of Critical Institutions in Niger State (FOSCIN), paid him a courtesy visit in Minna, the state capital.
According to Ladan, the governor Abubakar Sani-Bello led administration would ensure decency and decorum to take centre stage in its campaigns and therefore urged other political parties to tow same line.
He declared: “Our campaign is going to be issue based and we are calling on other political parties that since the party in power is going to ensure peace in its campaign methodology, we want all political parties to play by the rules and imbibe the principle of fairness to enhance enthronement of sustainable democratic process we want and we are going to encourage a free and fair election.”
He further assured both the law enforcement agents and INEC of the state government’s support to enable them carry out their responsibilities without hitches, before, during and after the general elections.
The secretary to the State Government added that, “The state government is going to corporate with all those that matter in the process so that we will have a free and a fair elections.”
