The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday inaugurated the Kaduna State Campaign Council and Directorates chaired by governor Nasir el-Rufai, the party’s 2019 candidate for the governorship election, with his running mate Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, as deputy chairman.
Speaking before performing the inauguration in Kaduna, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, deputy national chairman of the APC, expressed confidence that the state team will deliver all the party’s candidates in 2019 general elections.
Senator Shuaibu, however, advised APC supporters to avoid hate speeches during the campaigns adding that they should only respond to criticism from the opponent.
Shuaibu said, “The campaign council and directorates is going to be charged on campaigning and promoting President Muhammadu Buhari, governor Nasir el-Rufai, senatorial, House of Representatives and state Assembly candidates for next year’s elections. I formally inaugurated Kaduna APC 2019 Campaign Council. We should try to minimise hate speeches during our campaigns but that does not mean we will not respond to criticism from the opponent. Mr President has advised we should not use hate speeches during our campaigns.”
Also speaking, governor Nasir el-Rufai, who is the APC governorship candidate, commended the people of the state for the support, saying the next four years for President Buhari and him will consolidate the achievements recorded.
el-Rufai, said his administration’s reforms in the area of health, education, agriculture among others have started yielding results for the people of the state.
Recall that Ben Kure, who was director general of the campaign in 2015, returned to the role as the head of the 1,342 persons who constitute the 14 Directorates of the campaign.
Mr Samuel Aruwan, who was campaign spokesman in 2015, retains the role as director, Media and Publicity.
Secretary of the campaign council, Muhammed B. Shuaib, said the inclusive list has many heavyweight politicians and distinguished professionals as directors, campaign officials and members.
